NSCRA welcomes 2008 Pan American Champion Hard Target Racing. This father and son team gave the NSCRA a chance to get up close and learn more about their program. Team owner Luis Ferrer Sr. is no stranger to winning. Over the last 30 years, Luis Sr. has been a true pioneer to sport compact racing developing some of the world's fastest Toyotas. With Luis Sr.'s passion for racing, it's no surprise that his son Luis Jr. has followed in his foot steps. For the last 15 years son Luis Jr. has been the pilot of Hard Targets record breaking Toyotas. With stats like "First FWD Toyota in the 9's", "First RWD Toyota in USA to run 9's and 8's" and "World fastest ¾ modified Toyota". This team is no joke. Hard Target's current two car arsenal blends the old with new. The flag ship of the team is their 'Modified Sport Compact' class 2007 Scion TC. Currently the worlds fastest ¾ modified Toyota running a blistering 7.24@190 MPH. This TC is a work of art. JC Race Cars did a truly professional job on the chassis. Everything is either chromed, powder coated, polished, anodized, or painted. Their focus to detail is simply amazing.
Built in the memory of close friend and teammate, Dioni. Hard Targets Turbo Sport Compact class 81' Corolla with its full interior, stock glass, spare tire and jack would make it seem nothing close to their TC. That's until you take a closer look at this8.38@163 MPH sleeper. Under the hood you will find a Toyota 3SGTE motor that is almost a mirror image to the TC. Both cars share key similarity such as EMS engine management systems, Bulls Eye Turbo, Hux Racing Intake manifolds, Rev Racing Valves, and Liberty transmissions.
