The National Sport Compact Racing Association (NSCRA) was founded in 2009 by John Brown and Joe Bermudez as a sanctioning body for all forms of motorsports. Its premier season currently focuses on Sport Compact drag racing, bringing a new design to the never-ending growth of the sport. "Being pioneers of Sport Compact drag racing, and having campaigned both street and pro cars through rigorous race seasons, Joe and I have developed a system with the racer in mind," said John Brown, co-founder of the NSCRA. "We have setup the classes and the regions so that grassroots-level racers and the professionals have a place to race without having to travel around the country towards a championship chase."
The premise of the NSCRA lies in its region-based makeup. With six nationwide regions in total, racers will compete in separate point series for each region towards a region-based championship. At the conclusion of all the respective regions' seasons, all regional teams will be invited to the NSCRA National Championship Event. This proven concept not only helps reduce cost for the sportsman and professional racers in way of travel, but helps build recognition for racers within their region.
Building a strong fan base for the NSCRA will be its primary mission. The NSCRA's goal is to put on motorsports events nationwide that garner the attention of automotive enthusiasts of all ages and interests. The NSCRA also focuses on strong sponsorship and media relations, providing drivers and their teams the editorial press that they need to compete and travel year after year. "Since we were racers once and had to campaign racecars throughout the nation, we know how difficult it is to not only get sponsors, but to keep them happy year-in and year-out. Our outstanding relationships with media outlets will ensure that NSCRA racers get the exposure that they need to continue competing and doing what they love to do."
Each NSCRA event currently presents Sport Compact drag racing for professionals and sportsman racers. In addition, a car show featuring over 20 competition classes, a Caribbean food court, and music and entertainment for enthusiasts of all ages. Every event is family-oriented in mind and will continue to be for years to come.
The NSCRA is currently looking for Regional Directors to help expand the NSCRA's vision nationwide. All NSCRA events are currently in the Southeast region, being hosted at Palm Beach International Raceway in Jupiter, Florida.

About John Brown
John Brown is a pioneer of Sport Compact Drag Racing. His achievements date back to 1997 where he campaigned the Fastest Honda at a Drag Wars event in Florida. He continued his dominance in the Drag Wars series campaigning a Honda Civic through 1999 collecting trophies and Quick 8 wins throughout the United States from West Palm Beach, Florida to Dallas Texas, to Houston Texas and even Englishtown, New Jersey.
Born in 1971, John Brown began his automotive racing in his early teenage years. Starting with go-karts at the early age of 14, John Brown searched for a more challenging aspect to race in starting on his 18th birthday. At 19, John sought out his SCCA road racing license and his IMSA license. From there he commenced in several events including the 24 Hours of Daytona in January of 1997. After spending several years on various different road-racing circuits in Florida, John Brown became deeply involved with the sport of import drag racing.
A hobby became a passion and John Brown's expertise in building vehicles and the experience learned from working at DynoJet Research lead him towards starting his own business, Turismo Technology. After dominating the Florida races with what had become East Coast's Fastest Honda, John packed up his car, crew and his talents to get nationwide exposure. After achieving many goals and victories on the quarter mile track against even the fastest cars on the West Coast, John Brown merged Turismo Technology with Braman Honda to form Braman Motorsports.
At Braman Motorsports, the biggest door was opened to John Brown with a Castrol Syntec sponsorship. The Castrol Syntec Civic was born and completely revolutionized front wheel drag racing. From there, John Brown campaigned the Raptor Civic which was sponsored by Quaker State. Capturing the first NHRA Sport Compact Wally for the Pro FWD class ever, John along with Steven Thompson campaigned the vehicle to a championship in the NOPI NDRA series.
John Brown is now dedicated to giving back to the sport compact industry that has given him so many opportunities in his life. He founded the NSCRA along with Joe Bermudez on the premise to develop a sport compact racing association based on all the knowledge they have gained over the years of competitive racing. John Brown knows how difficult it is to campaign a vehicle through a rigorous race series, be it a pro or street vehicle. He looks forward to building a racing association that works closer to the racers than any association ever has.
